Consistency Is Intuition in Motion

August 03, 20268 min read

I asked my community what comes up when they hear the word consistency.

One said, “consistency is king, and I am consistently inconsistent”. He went into self judgment, immediately. Another said “boredom”. Another said “I know it is correct and yet I am resisting it”.

Nobody said freedom. Nobody said trust. Every answer carried weight in it.

That tells you everything about what we have been taught consistency means. I want to hand you a different definition, along with the exact system I use to live it, because the definition you are carrying is costing you.

Consistency doesnt have to feel like grind or "having" to show up to do the same exact thing over and over. Consistency requires trusting and knowing, instead of forcing and pushing. Then consistency will feel GOOD.

First, understand what alignment actually means

When you think about building your business, where have you been consistent out of obligation, doing things because you feel like you should or that you " have" to? That is exactly where the heavy feelings around consistency live.

A lot of what you believe is aligned is not, because you are measuring alignment against only some of the things such as the KPIs. How many clients. How much money. All of that is important BUT that is not what alignment is.

Alignment is building the business that supports the life you desire. The WHOLE vision.

What do you want your Mondays to look like and feel like? Your Tuesdays? Answer that first, then design the business around it. Your health? Relationships? Measure your actions against your complete vision, not against what you think your bank account should look like by now or how many clients you are supposed to have at this point. I promise, when you are aligned you will thrive. With ease.

The diagnostic: run this when something feels heavy

Not everything heavy is misaligned, and not everything heavy should be pushed through.

So when resistance shows up, run it in this order instead of guessing.

  • Step one. Ask whether your vision is clear and in front of you daily. Are you waking up and visualizing it? Do you know exactly why you are doing what you are doing? If the answer is no, stop there. That is your problem, and no amount of discipline fixes it.

  • Step two. Spend real time with the vision, embodying the version of you who has already accomplished it, then come back to the task. Most of the time the resistance is gone, because the sluggishness was never the task. It was distance from the vision.

  • Step three. If you have done that a few times and it still feels heavy, now you know it is the method, not you. Go back to the drawing board and ask how you build this consistently in a way that feels good.

There are things you will not enjoy that are genuinely part of getting where you are going. Think about walking across a beach when the sand is scorching and the water is a football field away. You do not turn around and go home. You cross it, because you know what is on the other side.

When the vision is clear enough, you cross the hot sand without resenting it. That is step two working. When it stays heavy after you have done the work, that is step three telling you to change the method.

Same outcome, different method

I was a top producing real estate agent and I did not cold call.

I am an excellent cold caller.

I do not know many better at it than me.

I just do not find joy in it. I did it when I first got licensed because I did not know a single human being in the county. I got involved with the Chamber and built through my strengths instead.

Same outcome. Different method. Still completely consistent and more aligned with how I wanted to build my business and life. I was making friends and building a life too.

Your systems and structures need to align with your entire vision, not with how you think you are supposed to build a business.

Rigid repetition is fear in disguise

Real consistency includes refining. You follow a blueprint, and that blueprint gets tweaked, refined, and redefined until it lands and feels like home.

Rigid repetition is the belief that if you do not hustle your way through this it will never happen. If you do not sacrifice yourself in the process you will not be successful. That is not devotion. That is fear in disguise.

Be committed to the outcome and flexible on the methods. That is the real commitment.

I changed a strategy recently that was not working. I delegated prospecting when it felt too heavy, and something shifted the moment I did. I landed more appointments myself than the person I hired to schedule appointments for me, because the pressure was released and it became fun again. That is refining in real time.

The system: What’s Important Now

Sunday

Ask what the top three things are that, if you accomplish them this week, mean you had a successful week no matter what else happens. Those three become your non negotiables. Everything else is gravy. Cancel what is not in your twenty percent without apologizing for it.

Daily

Before you touch the list, ask what is important now. Today. This very moment. The list is in front of you and you are not scanning it and picking one. You look at it, then you go within and let the answer rise. There is usually one thing that, once it is done, moves everything else forward with it.

Monthly

Look back and ask what you committed to last month. Which systems and processes did you create that do not feel good? Tweak them. Refine them. Delegate them. Do what you have to do.

If the week goes sideways, if you are tired, if you are moving, if everything falls apart, you are still consistent. You are still working your business and paying attention. You are just not being a rigid robot about it.

Then of course Quarterly and annually as well. Always be refining your vision, your clarity and your alignment.

The audit: do this

Sit down and write it out. This is the work that makes the rest of it possible.

  • What are you showing up on consistently?

  • What feels right?

  • What feels wrong?

  • What needs to be tweaked?

  • What is on your list as something you are supposed to be consistent with, that you are not doing at all?

Then look at the energy behind each one. When we force ourselves into productivity, that is fear, and that energy is exactly what causes nothing to happen, or has you sitting down to do the thing and not doing it.

Where is your intuition on it? If it is not there, bring it in.

What this bought me

I am working less than twenty hours a week right now, and I will probably keep it that way for the rest of the summer. Guilt free. I have a granddaughter to spend time with. I feel more consistent than I have ever felt, because I am moving forward and building my business, my way, faster than when I am forcing and pushing and sacrificing my health, realtionships and other things that matter to me. This stems from faith. I believe when I am aligned to my WHOLE vision, nothing gets neglected. Decisions and actions are taken from that space. My schedule too.

And again this month, I trusted my intuition when it told me something needed to be redefined in my email campaigns, and the answer came back as a sixty nine percent open rate. That is unheard of. I did not take it as an expectation. I took it as a reward for my faith.

I spent twenty nine years denying myself the lifestyle I wanted while selling real estate. I want to spend most of my time, barefoot, in a bathing suit, walking around in nature, adeventures with family, while learning and building.

That is who I have been since I was a little girl, and I am not denying it anymore.

Me in my happy place

I no longer have to feel busy to be successful.

What is the point of building this business if you never get to do what you love? When you follow the light, take action and do more of what feels good, everything else comes easier. The thing you were dreading takes twenty five minutes and you wonder what you were so afraid of.

Stay committed to the outcome. Stay flexible on the method. Trust what you feel.
