HOW TO CHARGE WHAT YOU'RE WORTH (EVEN WHEN YOU'RE STILL BUILDING)

February 09, 20266 min read

Let me be honest with you: I still undercharge.

Not because I don't know my value. Not because I'm running from a pattern. But because I'm building. I'm testing. I'm learning what works.

And that's a conscious choice.

But here's what I've learned in the process, and it's the lesson that changes everything:

If you don't believe in the value and transformation you're offering, they won't either.

Your belief sets the price. Not their opinion. Not the market. Not what feels "safe."

Your belief in what you offer is the foundation. Everything else is just numbers.

So let's talk about how to charge what you're worth, whether that's $100 or $10,000, when you're making conscious choices instead of operating from your patterns.

The Difference Between Strategic Undercharging and Pattern-Driven Undercharging

There's a massive difference between undercharging because you're building and undercharging because your patterns are running the show.

Undercharging from PATTERN:

  • You're people-pleasing: pricing for their comfort, not your worth

  • You're operating from scarcity: "What if no one pays?"

  • You're proving: "I'll charge more once I'm good enough"

  • You're controlling: "I can't charge that if I can't guarantee the outcome"

This keeps you exhausted, resentful, and broke with a full roster.

Undercharging from STRATEGY:

  • You're testing your offer

  • You're building social proof

  • You're getting clear on what transformation you actually deliver

  • You're making a CONSCIOUS choice that serves your vision

This keeps you building, learning, and moving forward.

The difference? One is unconscious and keeps you stuck. The other is intentional and moves you closer.

And the foundation of both? Your belief in the transformation you're offering.

Your Belief in the Transformation Sets the Price

Here's what most people get wrong about pricing:

They think it's about their credentials. Their hours. Their experience. Their resume.

It's not.

It's about the TRANSFORMATION you create and your unshakable belief that it's worth every dollar.

I learned this when I started getting amazing results with my clients.

Not when I got more certifications. Not when I had more years under my belt.

When I SAW the transformation happening and I BELIEVED in it fully.

That belief? That's what lets you say your number without apologizing.

That's what lets you hold your rate when someone says "that's too expensive."

That's what makes the difference between charging consciously and charging from fear.

Because here's the truth: they will value it exactly as much as you do.

If you're apologizing for your price, they'll negotiate.

If you're doubting the transformation, they'll doubt it too.

If you're not sold on what you're offering, why should they be?

Your belief isn't just important. It's everything.

How Patterns Show Up in Your Pricing

Even if you BELIEVE in your transformation, your patterns can still hijack your pricing decisions.

Here's how:

PEOPLE-PLEASING: You believe in what you offer, but the second they hesitate, you drop your price to make them comfortable.

You're pricing for THEIR feelings instead of YOUR worth.

SCARCITY: You believe in the transformation, but you're so afraid no one will pay that you charge less "just to be safe."

You're pricing from "not enough" instead of abundance.

PROVING: You believe in what you offer, but you think you need more results, more credentials, more proof before you can charge what it's worth.

You're pricing to earn your worth instead of KNOWING your worth.

CONTROL: You believe in the transformation, but you can't charge premium rates because "what if they don't get results?"

You're trying to control their outcome instead of trusting your value.

The result?

You end up undercharging. Not from strategy, but from pattern.

And the difference between the two is everything.

Conscious Pricing: The Framework

So how do you price consciously instead of from pattern?

Step 1: Believe in the transformation you're offering

Get clear on what you actually deliver. What changes for people when they work with you?

Not what you DO. What they BECOME.

If you can't articulate that transformation with certainty, you're not ready to price it yet.

But once you can? Once you KNOW what you're offering and you BELIEVE in it fully?

That's your foundation.

Step 2: Make intentional choices about your rates

Ask yourself:

  • Does this rate support my vision or steal from it?

  • Am I charging this because it's strategic (building, testing, learning) or because I'm afraid?

  • Is this a conscious choice or is a pattern running?

If you're undercharging strategically to build social proof, to test your offer, to learn, OWN that. It's a choice. It's intentional. It moves you forward.

If you're undercharging from fear, scarcity, or people-pleasing? That's the pattern. Interrupt it.

Step 3: Hold your rate from your belief, not their reaction

When you say your number and they hesitate, your pattern will scream at you:

  • "See? It's too much. Drop it."

  • "You're going to lose them. Give a discount."

  • "What if no one else says yes?"

Your belief in the transformation is what holds the line.

Not their reaction. Not their budget. Not their timeline.

YOUR belief.

If you believe in what you're offering, the price is the price.

The right people will pay. The wrong ones won't. Both are perfect.

The Lesson: They Won't Value It If You Don't

Here's what I've learned building this business:

You can have the best offer in the world. You can deliver incredible transformation. You can change lives.

But if YOU don't value it? If YOU don't believe in it? If YOU price it like it's not worth much?

They won't either.

Your belief sets the tone for everything.

Your belief is what they feel when you say your number.

Your belief is what makes them say yes. Not your discount, not your credentials, not your resume.

Your belief in the transformation you offer.

That's the foundation. That's the power. That's the price.

So Where Does This Leave You?

Whether you're charging $100 or $10,000, the question isn't "Is this enough?"

The question is: "Do I believe in the transformation I'm offering? And am I pricing from that belief or from my patterns?"

If you're undercharging strategically while you build, test, and learn? Beautiful. Own it. Keep moving.

If you're undercharging from people-pleasing, scarcity, or fear? Interrupt the pattern. Price from your belief.

And if you're not sure? Ask yourself:

  • Do I believe in what I'm offering?

  • Is this price a conscious choice or an unconscious pattern?

  • Does this support my vision or steal from it?

Then choose accordingly.

Because charging what you're worth isn't about a number.

It's about charging from belief, alignment, and conscious choice instead of fear, pattern, and what feels safe.
