My Summer So Far: Architecting a Life I Love, One Beautiful Day at a Time

August 21, 20267 min read

I keep saying I am building the business that supports the life of my dreams. This summer, I got to live inside the proof.

It Started in the Dominican Republic

From late May until the last week of June, I was in the Dominican Republic. Weeks, not days. Almost long enough to exhale and to remember that abundance is not something I am chasing. It is something I am living in, right now, even in the middle of everything.

Fresh Coconut from my front yard! Talk about abundance!

Then Came the Lake

From the DR I went to New York and landed in the most magical tree house in the middle of the woods by a lake.I mean the place is magical. Water, trees, quiet, and the sound of my daughters and granddaughters laughing and bickering.

That laughter and bickering. That is the whole point. That is what all of this is for.

We had so much summer fun together. The kind of days you do not have to dress up or perform. Just family. Just love. Just presence.

Swimming in a lake with snails is LOVE. 🤣

Birmingham Changed the Game

Then I flew to Birmingham, Alabama, and everything shifted into a new gear.

I became Investment Grade Architect certified. Let that sink in for a minute, because I am still letting it sink in myself. This is not a certificate for a wall. This is a framework for building wealth and structure and legacy at a level I have been preparing for my whole life.

In Birmingham I also got to spend time with Dr. Robert Needham, who I have been collaborating with. Being in the room with him and this community confirmed what I already knew in my spirit. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. There are announcements and press releases coming out of this work, and when they drop, you will be among the first to know and be mindblown with me.

OH YEAH!!! COMING SOON

The Book Is Coming

I am also working with a book coach to birth the book that has been living in me. I am not sharing the title yet. What I can tell you is what it is about. It is about building the business that supports the life of your dreams.

Not the business that eats your life. Not the hustle that leaves you empty. The business that funds your freedom, your family time, your lake houses and your monasteries and your long stretches in the DR and more than that your freedom.

And here is the part I refuse to hide. I am writing this book and building this life while digging out of a financial black hole. Yes. Both things are true at the same time. I am walking the talk in real time.

And I am doing it alone. Well, alone in the 3D realm only. LOL. Because I am divinely connected. I am tapped into freedom, joy, and abundance no matter what the bank account says on any given day. The circumstances do not get to define me. My past does not define me. I know who I am. So I keep architecting a beautiful business and a beautiful life, brick by brick, miracle by miracle. And it’s all working out exactly as it is meant to be. <3

Back to New York, Back to Family

Now I am back in New York for a few weeks. I just came from a gorgeous pool house in Connecticut filled with family time, and now I am back at the lake tree house for even more of it. More granddaughter giggles. More slow mornings and evenings with family. More of what matters.

Can I Brag for a Minute? Proud Mama Moment

All this family time has me overflowing with pride, so let me brag on my girls for a minute, because they are both absolutely killing it.

My oldest, Olivia, is the Operations Manager for LUCA, Latino U College Access, a nonprofit that mentors first generation Latino students to and through college. She is helping change the trajectory of entire families, and I could not be prouder of the work she does. She is also a licensed real estate agent with eXp. And a yogi. And a gym rat who takes her fitness seriously. And on top of all of that, she is an amazing mom navigating single motherhood with strength and grace. Watch her. She is unstoppable.

My youngest is a business owner. She founded Secondaries, a curated thrift boutique built on sustainability, empowerment, and giving back to local charities. She started it in high school, in the middle of a pandemic. Covid froze her at 16 for a while, like it did for so many of our young people, and watching her navigate life in her 20’s, blossoming into exactly who she is meant to be, takes my breath away. She is also the most amazing aunt. I am so proud of who she has become.

Both of my daughters have overcome so much. They are living proof that our circumstances do not define us. They define themselves. I know exactly where they get that from. LOL.

And then there is my granddaughter Zendaya. Six years old, headed into first grade, and already smart, witty, funny, fresh, and a weebit diabolical in the best possible way to drive us all crazy. Yup she keeps all of us on our toes and laughing until we cry. First grade has no idea what is coming.

Today I Went Home to the Monastery

And today. Today was sacred.

I went back to the monastery where I studied Buddhism. The place where I became ordained and certified as a Buddhist teacher. The place that, honestly, saved me. That monastery met me at a moment when I needed it most and set me on the path I am walking today.

Standing there again, I felt it all. Gratitude. Reverence. Awe at how far this path has carried me. It was amazing.

The Whole Truth

Here is my whole truth this summer.

I miss my mom. There are moments the missing washes over me and I let it. On August 18 we will gather and celebrate her birthday, because love does not end and neither does celebration. She is with me in all of this. I am sad about my marriage. I am not going to pretend otherwise.

And. Not but. And.

I am empowered. I am living inspired. Grief and joy are sitting at the same table in my life right now, and I have the capacity to hold both. Not because this summer taught me how, but because years of doing the inner work built that room in me long before I needed it. When the hard seasons came, the capacity was already there.

That is the message under everything I teach. Do the work now. Build the capacity now. Choose love over fear now. So that when life brings you the DR and the black hole in the same season, you can hold it all and still call your life beautiful.

This Is What Architecting a Life Looks Like

Beaches in the DR. A tree house on a lake. A certification in Birmingham. A book taking shape. A monastery that still feels like home. Granddaughters in the pool. Grief and gratitude holding hands.

This is my summer so far. And it is only August. Up Next DR with my eldest daughter and my Granddaughter!!!!!

Getting work done at airports is my fave
