When Life Demands Everything: How to Stay Productive, Find Joy, and Build Your Business Through the Hard Chapters

February 04, 20267 min read

Right now, my mom needs me.

She's home now, starting hospice care. For the past month, we were away with her husband at a waterfront place in Jersey while coordinating contractors to renovate her home, moving her bedroom to the first floor, and building a new bathroom so she could come back and be comfortable. I was co-caregiving with her husband, managing the start of Hospice, living in the space between hope and heartbreak. All this while also digging out of financial wreckage from a failed marriage and a business partnership explosion.

And here's what I want you to know: during that same month, I still developed my business. I came up with a 10x version of my signature program that will serve a million people. I moved forward on the work that matters most.

Not because I'm superhuman or emotionally detached.

But because I've built a business on foundations that hold me when life gets hard, and because I understand something most entrepreneurs miss. Action-based faith changes everything.

The Myth That's Keeping You Stuck

Somewhere along the way, we accepted a lie that we can only build our businesses when life is calm. That we need perfect conditions to be productive. That joy and growth require the absence of challenge.

So when life throws us the inevitable illness, loss, upheaval, transition, we shut down our dreams and tell ourselves "I'll get back to it when things settle down."

But here's the truth. Life doesn't settle down. It expands. It contracts. It demands our presence in ways we can't control.

The question isn't whether challenges will come.

The question is, have you built a business that can breathe with you when they do?

Action-Based Faith

Faith without action is just hope. Hope is beautiful, but it doesn't move the needle.

Action without faith is just hustle. And hustle breaks you when you need your strength most.

Action-based faith is different. It's the practice of moving forward from divine connection while trusting that you're being led, even when you can't see the full path.

When my mom needed me, I didn't abandon my business. But I also didn't force productivity from fear or scarcity or give up.

Instead, I asked every single day. What wants to move through me right now? What's mine to do today?

Some days, that was two focused hours that produced something brilliant. Other days, it was rest and trust. Some mornings, insights came while I was with her, gazing at the waterfront view. Other times, I got nothing, and that was perfect too.

I followed the energy. I took aligned action. I had faith that my business wouldn't implode because I was being human.

That's action-based faith.

The Morning Rituals That Created Space for Everything

Here's what actually made this possible, and it's simpler than you think.

Every morning, no matter what was happening, I created space for three things.

Clarity. I didn't jump into the chaos. I spent time getting clear on what mattered most that day, not what I "should" do, but what was actually mine to do. Sometimes that was business. Sometimes that was just being present with my mom. Clarity meant I wasn't wasting energy second-guessing myself all day.

Movement. I moved my body. Even if it was just a walk. Even if it was 10 minutes. Moving your body shifts your energy, clears your mind, and reconnects you to your power. This wasn't about fitness. It was about staying in my body instead of living in my head.

Intention. I worked my mind deliberately. Meditation, journaling, reading something that elevated me, whatever fed my spirit and reminded me who I am beyond the circumstances. This is where I connected to source. Where I remembered that I am the light that heals me, I am the light that leads me.

These three practices, varying from 25 to 45 minutes, laid the foundation for everything else.

They gave me space to receive the insight that became my 10x program idea. They gave me emotional stamina to show up fully for my mom and support her husband through this. They gave me the clarity to know when to work and when to rest.

Both/And

The old paradigm says you have to choose.

Be present for your family OR build your business. Take care of yourself OR serve your clients. Rest OR be productive. Grieve OR create.

That's bullshit.

The truth is both/and.

I was fully present with my mom AND developed transformational business ideas.

I grieved AND felt deep joy.

I rested when I needed to AND moved my business forward.

I honored what was hard AND stayed connected to possibility.

This isn't about balance. It's about integration. It's about building a life and business where everything feeds the same source instead of competing for your limited energy.

What I Built While Life Was Breaking Open

That 10x program idea? It came through while I was caregiving. While I am clearing up the financial hole that is the aftermath of a crumbled marriage and business partnership breakup.

Because I was fully present with all of it. The grief, the love, the logistics, the transformation.

When you're connected to source, when you're following the light instead of the numbers, insights come. Ideas move through you. Creation happens.

But only if you've built the foundation to receive it.

Only if you've cultivated the practice of action-based faith.

Only if you understand that your business is an extension of who you're becoming, not a separate thing you have to "fit in" around your real life.

The Business That Holds You

Here's what made this possible.

I'd already built a business that doesn't require me to perform on demand. That generates impact and income through systems, relationships, and genuine transformation, not just my constant visibility.

I'd already created offers that serve people's real evolution, not surface-level quick fixes.

I'd already cultivated a community that values authenticity and understands that life happens.

So when my mom needed me, my business didn't collapse. It held me.

And that's exactly what I teach my clients to build.

For the Overwhelmed Entrepreneur

If you're reading this feeling buried by life, by transition, by the weight of trying to build something meaningful while life demands everything, here's what I want you to know.

You don't have to choose. You can be productive AND present. You can build your business AND honor what's happening in your life. You can feel joy AND move through hard things.

My mom is home now. I'm here with her, fully present for whatever comes next. That 10x program idea is going to reach a million people. I'm clearer on my mission than I've ever been.

Not despite the hardest chapter of my life. Because of it.

This is what soulful prosperity actually looks like. Not perfect conditions or the absence of challenge, but the ability to stay connected, creative, and purposeful no matter what life throws at you.

It requires building from action-based faith instead of fear and force. Morning rituals that create space for clarity, movement, and intention. And treating your business as an extension of who you're becoming, not something separate from your real life.
